Construction Update

2024

Authorized Funds

The Town of Trumbull and the TVFRC Building Committee received funding through Senators Blumenthal and Murphy’s offices for $1.2 million through the Congressionally Directed spending program for the final construction funding needed to undertake the project.

2022

Authorized Funds

​With the assistance of Senator Marilyn Moore and the Trumbull legislative delegation, the State of Connecticut granted and authorized $1,500,000 in bond funds towards the general construction costs of the Veterans & First Responder Center.

Authorized Funds

The Town of Trumbull and the TVRC Building Committee received federal funding through the Member Directed Community Project Program, with the assistance of Congressman Jim Himes, in the amount of $750,000 to go toward general construction costs of the VFRC.

Fundraising

An individual and corporate fundraising campaign was launched in fall 2022 prior to Veterans Day. Funding will be used for furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Any additional funds raised will support programs and operations.

2021

Shovel Ready

The VFRC is 100% “shovel ready” and can go to construction bid once all construction funding is raised. The building is fully designed. All necessary approvals are in place. The total construction fundraising goal is $3,500,000.

2020

Demolition & Site Preparation

​The State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) awarded the Town of Trumbull a $128,000 Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grant to demolish the existing condemned structure and clear the site. The demolition work was completed in winter 2021.

Kickoff

​The Building Committee and town staff launched efforts to obtain construction funding through the State of Connecticut Bond Commission, the Congressional Member Directed Community Project Funding program, and other grant sources.
